Atletico Madrid beat Las palmas after a brilliant start with three goals in opening 18 minutes. Kevin Gameiro struck twice and Saul headed the third goal to take a 3-0 lead at half time in Estadio Gran Canaria . In the final quarter of the game Thomas scored his first goal of this season and the last goal was scored by Torres after a good play initiated by Thomas and Filipe Luis provided the assist. 
A victory was important for atletico, as they had lost to Villareal at home in the previous game.
Atletico started the match strongly and totally controlled the match to earn their vital 3 points.
